About This Book
The Arkansas Real Estate Commission (AREC) enforces the Arkansas Real Estate License Law and Commission Regulations, including the Real Estate License Law and Time-Share Law, with the primary goal of protecting the public. These regulations establish strict requirements related to licensing, agency disclosure, and advertising.
Licensing & Education Requirements
Pre-Licensing: Salesperson applicants must be at least 18 years old and complete 60 classroom hours of approved real estate education.
Examinations: Applicants must submit an application, pass both an FBI and state background check, and pass the licensing exam within 90 days of receiving approval.
Post-Licensing: Salespersons are required to complete 18 classroom hours of post-licensure education by the end of the month that falls six months after their initial licensure date. Brokers must complete 30 hours within the same six-month timeframe.
Affiliation: Licensees may not affiliate with more than one firm at a time. Additionally, all active licenses must be affiliated with a principal broker.
