NYC Fuel Gas Code

New York City Fuel Gas Code 2014

About This Book

The New York City Fuel Gas Code 2014 (NYCFGC) governs the design, installation, maintenance, and inspection of fuel gas systems and gas-fired appliances in New York City.

Overview Based on the 2009 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) with NYC-specific amendments, it took effect December 31, 2014. It covers natural gas piping, gas appliances, combustion and ventilation air, venting, and related accessories. As part of the NYC Construction Codes, it operates alongside the Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Energy Codes under Title 28 of the NYC Administrative Code.

  • Chapter 3 – General Regulations: Sets safety standards, prohibited installation locations (e.g., elevator shafts, sleeping rooms, and bathrooms unless direct-vent), combustion air requirements, and electrical bonding rules.
