About This Book
The South Carolina Fuel Gas Code 2021 establishes statewide regulations for the safe design, installation, and inspection of fuel gas systems and appliances. It is based on the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) with South Carolina-specific amendments and became mandatory on January 1, 2023.
The code covers natural gas, LP/propane, and manufactured gas distribution piping, appliance installations, combustion air requirements, venting, and pressure regulations. It applies to commercial and multi-family buildings; detached one- and two-family dwellings may follow either this code or the fuel gas chapter of the South Carolina Residential Code 2021. The full text is available on the ICC Digital Codes platform.
