Question: When roof trusses span the entire width of a house, which walls support the weight of both the roof and ceiling loads?
- A. Only the interior partition walls
- B. Only the walls containing plumbing
- C. Both exterior and interior walls equally
- D. The exterior walls
Correct Answer: D
When roof trusses span the entire width of a house, the exterior walls support the weight of both the roof and ceiling loads. In this case, interior walls serve mainly as room dividers and are not load-bearing. When ceiling joists and rafters are used instead of trusses, interior walls usually carry some of the ceiling load.
