IFGC 2015

International Fuel Gas Code 2015

About This Book

The 2015 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), published by the International Code Council (ICC), is a model safety standard governing the design and installation of fuel gas systems and gas-fired appliances.

Scope The IFGC covers natural gas, liquefied petroleum (LP/propane), manufactured gas, and gaseous hydrogen systems, including distribution piping, appliance connections, venting, combustion air provisions, and vehicle fuel-dispensing stations. It generally applies to natural gas piping up to 125 psig and LP-gas piping up to 20 psig, measured from the point of delivery to the appliance shutoff valve.

Purpose The code establishes minimum requirements to protect people and property from fires, explosions, and carbon monoxide hazards, while also safeguarding technicians who install, service, or replace gas appliances. It serves as a baseline model that U.S. states, counties, and municipalities adopt and amend to create their local building codes.
