3 questions

Sample 1 — Administration General Regulations

Question: Water delivered to a fixture is classified as tempered water when its temperature falls within which range?

  • A. 90°F to 120°F
  • B. 85°F to 110°F
  • C. 70°F to 100°F
  • D. 110°F to 140°F

Correct Answer: B

IPC 2015 Section 202 defines 'Tempered water' as water having a temperature range between 85°F (29°C) and 110°F (43°C). Water at or above 110°F is defined as 'hot water.'

Sample 2 — Plumbing Fixtures

Question: A lavatory equipped with an integral overflow is being installed in a public toilet room. Where must the overflow waste discharge into the drainage system?

  • A. On the outlet side of the trap
  • B. Into the trap arm downstream of the weir
  • C. On the fixture side of the trap
  • D. Into the vent above the flood level rim

Correct Answer: C

IPC 2015, Section 405.7.1 requires the overflow from any fixture to discharge into the drainage system on the inlet or fixture side of the trap. The only exception is the overflow from a flush tank serving a water closet or urinal, which discharges into the fixture served.

Treat your first attempt as a checkup, not a verdict. After every attempt, the results page breaks your score down by outline topic, so you can see which topics need work. Compare your score with the real exam's passing score, 70% correct, and keep practicing until you pass consistently.

  • Answer what you know first. Go through every question once, answer the ones you know, and bookmark the rest. Our practice exams let you bookmark and come back.
  • Come back to your bookmarks. Work them out on your second pass.
  • Watch your pace. The real exam works out to about 2 minutes 24 seconds per question.
  • Look up every miss. After each attempt, find each missed question's reference in your book and read the section.
